    Last.fm Symbian Client

Come on guys, this platform is killer for last.fm..

Nokia are full swing into the internet radio thing, announcing nokia internet radio today, http://europe.nokia.com/A4668051 , but still no last.fm.

Think of the exposure you could get by having the client listed in Nokia download (On all Nseries phones!!) or even bundled with the phone, like 3 did with orb..

I agree 100%. Now after using Nokia Internet Radio app for a while (btw. it's a great app) my N95 is almost screaming to have Last.fm player. That would be the next big thing.

That's a great idea; hope that last.fm team will do sth about it ...
  • There's certainly demand. See this thread also:

At first I missed the "m" in "Symbian" in this thread's title, and I was wondering how that would even work...
  • Ha! I had to Google that! Very funny! :)

I imagine the Recently Played list would fill up with "Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

I don't think I've laughed that hard in months.

I'm installing the mystrands social player as I type. Hope it holds it's water. Would love a native, scrobbling, last.fm-tastic player and/or plugin though..

There is a prototype Symbian last.fm radio player available for S60 3rd edition and 2nd edition with a bit of tweaking. This is an abandoned project which was demonstrated to last.fm last year to a resounding lack of interest and comes 'as-is'.

There is no easy installation : You will have to install Nokia Internet radio and Python for s60 and then run the script available here:
    http://blastfm.cvs.sourceforge.net/blastfm/

It is optimized for N73 and some mods will be required for devices with a different screen resolution.

  • scrobbling from my N95 would make my life complete (well sort of). It's the last place that i can't scrobble from and seeing as I listen to a lot of music through my phone I NEED this.

ohmigod, PLEASE someone, pick the blastfm to active development. GRRROOOOOOOO

    //addicted to Last.fm on Ubuntu / Exaile and Nokia IT770 / Vagalume
  • I have put together a .sis file containing all you need to get blastfm running on S60 3rd edition. It is optimized for N73 but with user feedback I can get it working for other 3rd edition devices too.
Download blastfm for S60 3rd edition.
  • Installation works fine (thanks for this), but since I don't have a UMTS/EDGE network available, I would like to synchronize my listed music with my PC (as i also do with my calender items) and then scrobble them to last.fm.

Does anyone now if this is possible?
(using an UMTS internet connection in the Netherlands without an monthly subscription is rather expensive)
  • hey anyone put me in the right direction of getting my N73 scrobbling
  • I'm developing a S60 client for Last.fm. The first beta release (ugly UI and barely working with lot of bugs) can be found at:

    http://code.google.com/p/aspyplayer/

It is able to basic playing and to create a history of the tracks played and send them to last.fm when online. Tested only on my N95-1 with python 1.4.2

Any kind of feedback (bug report, python patches, comments) are welcome.

A post in my blog about it: http://dougfernando.blogspot.com/2008/02/my-lastfm-s60-client-aspyplayer.html

you can scrobble on a n95 using this. ive been doing it for a while

  • MyStrands

    MyStrands works GREAT !!

The latest version supports scrobbling for last.fm (it is hidden well inside the app settings).

When listening to music from the MyStrands player (which is quite good) on my Nokia 6120 (Symbian S60 3rd) the songs are immediately and automatically updated in the last.fm site.

The ONLY drawback is that it does not wait for the song to be played a minimum amount of seconds before scrobbling, thus songs I skip are still logged.

I also tried aspyPlayer but couldn't make it succesfuly logon to last.fm, plus it is still too buggy to use.

    Thanks alot everybody !
  • Using the media player database on the phone

Having had to delve into the private folder on the phone to fix my music library[1] it's kinda obvious that the sweetest way for this to work would be to have something that parsed the database generated by the media player on the phone.

    [1] held at e:/private/101FFC31/mpxv1.mpd

Now to try and work out how...
  • Mobbler

"Mobbler, Mobile Scrobbler, is a last.fm radio player and scrobbler for Nokia S60 3rd edition smartphones. It allows you to listen to your last.fm radio stations and to scrobble tracks played using the Nokia S60 Music Player. Music player scrobbling can be done both whilst you listen, or queued offline to be submitted later."

    http://code.google.com/p/mobbler/

Finally, my wait is over! This one really plays last.fm radio stations and doesn't just collect scrobbling data. Works ok on my N95.

    FLAC/APE player with last.fm support?

I have Coreplayer which is able to play FLAC files, but there is no possibility to
scrobble tracks to last.fm. Mobbler works only with Nokia's built-in player, and it cannot
    play FLAC/APE :(

Do you know if it is some application to deal with this?
