Anyway, then I would like to mention these tracks, qouting from another post of mine on this thread:
    http://www.last.fm/forum/21713/_/398972

    Three other examples:

PlayLuka I'm not sure what's the track on last.fm radio, but it's definitely not "Luka"...

PlayTropical Hot Dog Night It's "Owed t'Alex" by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band playing instead of "Tropical Hot Dog Night"...

PlayWasteland It's their cover version of "1969" that's playing. I think this is caused by this compilation: The Best oF The Mission UK It's mixed up with Resurrection: Greatest Hits.

In addition to these; PlayFriday Night, Saturday Morning is definitely not "Friday Night, Saturday Morning", but "War Crimes"... The problem is caused by this compilation: The Singles Collection... The track list is correct (even though some are mistagged), but the songs are from this compilation. Unfortunately, "Friday Night, Saturday Morning" is lost, because PlayGhost Town is streaming for both PlayStereotype and for the correct song.

yes, your other post is certainly on the same topic as this thread, so i bumped that too (tho someone may soon deem either this or that thread a dupe). but the news so far hasn't been too encouraging on this issue. :(

yet another album of wrongly assigned tracks (new case)

i had added some tracks from carole king's album Wrap Around Joy to my playlist only days ago. and i'm positive all the tracks from the album were in order when i previewed them. however, this morning when i checked, everything was haywire, save for tracks #2 and #3:

    1 PlayNightingale -> 5. You're Something New
2 PlayChange in Mind, Change of Heart -> ok
    3 PlayJazzman -> ok
4 PlayYou Go Your Way, I'll Go Mine -> 11. A Night This Side of Dying
5 PlayYou're Something New -> 12. The Best Is Yet to Come
6 PlayWe Are All in This Together -> 8. You Gentle Me
7 PlayWrap Around Joy -> 9. My Lovin' Eyes
8 PlayYou Gentle Me -> 10. Sweet Adonis
9 PlayMy Lovin' Eyes -> 4. You Go Your Way, I'll Go Mine
10 PlaySweet Adonis ->6. We Are All in This Together
11 PlayA Night This Side of Dying -> 1. Nightingale
12 PlayThe Best Is Yet to Come -> 7. Wrap Around Joy

what is going on? anyway, i've set up a test playlist here in case you want to check for yourselves.

The first 2 albums you provided had (Album Version) or similar suffixes appended to the titles, which is what the tool can clean automatically (also LP Version, Single Version, etc.) at the moment.

So could you clean up Grande Rock, please?

  • P!nk's Misunnderstood album has a lot of the wrong tracks on there

    Missundaztood

The actual album with the right songs on is listed under Pink

Fall Out Boy - My People is actually by The Presets

    Badly uploaded album: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Presets/Apocalypso+(International)

Same on the UK version: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Presets/Apocalypso+(UK+Version)

And of course the single: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Presets/My+People+(International)
  • This the live version of Thunder Road rathar than the studio version

    PlayThunder Road
  • Track file with "missing" audio (slightly OT)

DiamondDave suggested this as an appropriate place to mention that PlayAnchorage by Michelle Shocked is silent when previewed in the Flash player and/or streamed to the client. This has been noted by other listeners too (see the shout box on the track's page).

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - someone only uploaded 30sec previews. The whole album never plays.

Ladytron - Velocifero - corrupt upload.

Dave Edmunds - PlayGirls Talk - live version

whoa... hold yer horses, guys! this thread is supposed to be for tracks with mistagged track title/album/artist info.

@ girl_from_oz and Babs_05: for cases where a different version of the correct track is streamed, this is not a bug but a known issue they will resolve eventually with the aid of fingerprinting.

as for suspected corrupted uploads (@truffaldino), it may be wiser to begin a fresh thread if one isn't available. babs, for the 30-sec preview thing, maybe the artist label should be notified via the staff.

just saying, guys... don't shoot me, alright? ;)

    One more song to fix

The song on last.fm labeled PlayCaravan of Love by The Housemartins is in fact PlayAll the Way From America by Joan Armatrading
"You don't need eyes to see, you need vision"
    - Reverence, Faithless.
  • I just want to tell Babs_05; I have notified the staff about the badly upload for the Ladytron album last month and they said they will look into it.

Is this why some tracks now have () after the title
    e.g.
Valentine - Ocean Full Of Tears ()

I assume the brackets once contained words like "album version".
    (\__/)
(='.'=) This is Bunny. Copy and paste Bunny into your
(")_(") signature to help him gain world domination.

Some of the tracks that actually stream here don't seem right--and it's splitting off into different artists. I'm not sure if this is the kind of thing that has to wait until musicbrainz integration, or if changing things like, Michael Jackson: __________ will break the song links?

i believe the introduction of the artist name in these cases is a good thing (it's only been recently introduced, afaik). it's particularly helpful in cases like compilation albums and soundtracks, to sidestep the 'various artists' issue and to disambiguate the tracks between albums. the new links with the album title included will still point to the former /artist/_/tracktitle/ links for now, but in time, i believe it will pave the way for different album versions of the same track title to be properly differentiated just by referring to their urls. with the fingerprinting magic also thrown in, of course.

I can see what you're saying, but it is really annoying to someone who is conscientious about tagging their tracks correctly. For example: Lauryn Hill (Featuring D'Angelo) -- a lot of the similar artists are incorrect too and that is annoying. I guess that if it is something that could be fixed later, that is comforting, but I'm beginning to doubt that these "fixes for later" are EVER coming--and I think that after using this site for so long, I am being fair and reasonable in that assumption.

I am pretty sure these errors come from the labels uploading the music, but I don't see the point in getting my tags right if the last.fm radio is just going to come right along and mess them up!

i hear you. artist labels can screw up too sometimes, and it's a good thing only a relatively few users have scrobbled through that particular mistag. (though mistagging cases on the whole are widespread, unfortunately.) what you can do meanwhile is to red-flag that wrong artist page by posting a correction/redirect wiki on the page (example) to both reroute users to the proper artist page if/where the stream is available and to advise them to correct their own itunes library tags. once we have the new 'keep stats clean' label approved (everyone, please vote!) that can be added to the artist image space too.

this much we can do for now to stem the flow. the actual fixing part may take awhile because it's a monumental undertaking that they want to get right the first time, i would think. (we've all seen how introducing something before it's ready can have dire consequences, so that's unlikely to repeat itself anytime soon.) we'll just have to be patient and wait for the yet-to-be-introduced track fingerprinting and moderation systems to do the rest and sort out this mess, i guess.

This one's strange, I'm not sure if it's meant to be like this:

    http://www.last.fm/music/Bam+Bam/_/Give+It+to+Me

It's starts off acid house, then suddenly goes country !!, then goes back to acid house.

I think that the picture / label thing has always been a really good idea -- but it seems like a somewhat moot point when the mistake has been made and is part of the radio (which can play without the user even trying)....And it's even more difficult if it's a good track that you don't want to ban on radio!

The whole thing is just kind of a mess, I guess. I reckon that no matter what kind of system is implemented, there will continue to be widespread mistagging. Which is really unfortunate, because I'm anal and see this as a major eyesore!
