@Maul of Sound: Pierced Arrows: Musicbrainz doesn't agree, though their discography appears all caps, there news area, media area, etc does not. I think this is a case of art, and not artists intent. Did standar first letter caps

Zola Jesus - not convinced, no musicbrainz entry

Pintandwefall - not convinced, musicbrainz doesn't agree. I'm not a fan of myspace as proof in general.

Hmm, i tend to trust myspace since it's actually the bands typing all this stuff out, i figure they'd know how they want their name to appear, so that's where i'm coming from with it.

I appreciate the standard caps on Zola Jesus and Pierced Arrows, i agree that there's not much to go on with ZJ and Pierced Arrows vary between normal and caps, so who knows. I'm glad that they're not lowercase anymore, at any rate.

As for pintandwefall, their website also spells their name in all caps (scroll to the bottom).

Anyway, thanks for all the fixes!

If you can get a moderation pushed through for pintandwefall on musicbrainz I'm all for it. Since it says otherwise there, it contradicts the artists possible intent. If you can convince the musicbrainz community I'm for it here.

The reason I don't necessarily like myspace for proof, even though it may be the real artist, is that I think they sometimes may go a little overboard with artistic look beyond real intent, especially if they aren't consistent with other releases, etc. But I do see where you are coming from.

    Cheers.

    PS: Got Marrs70 recent request.

Meh, if past experiences hold true now, it takes forever to do the moderation thing on musicbrainz, plus it's not really that big of a deal.

I get you on the myspace thing, and for future capitalization questions, i'll check musicbrainz first, the thought hadn't even occurred to me until you mentioned it.

    Cheers!
  • Thanks for changing the titles!

When it comes to Japanese titles, their official homepage is the best site to look at when it comes to type the titles.. Musicbrainz have too many uncorrect titles! Thanks!
Usually, I ask the Moderator TheMannen here on Last.fm when it comes to uncorrect tags, but I don't want to ask him too much!

If musicbrainz is incorrect you should push changes through there! Last.fm wants to use musicbrainz data. Help the community!

    a few capitalisations

Almost Lover (live) --> Almost Lover (Live)

Come On, Come Out (live) --> Come On, Come Out (Live)

The Well (demo) --> The Well (Demo)

Those are fine as they are... (live) and (demo) are never capitalized! just as (remix) or (edit) or (version) etc...

you're the one that i want --> You're The One That I Want

Should be "You're the One That I Want"

Yeah I wasn't 100% sure about "You're the One That I Want" to be honest. I did look it up but I got about three different variations so I went with the most used one.

I've always seen tags as (Live) etc :\ e.g. here and here and on iTunes (e.g. search for Paramore).

  • How come, though?

edit: Oh and on MusicBrainz they're capitalised too: here.

Because that was the style guidelines that the musicbrainz community presented. If there is capatilized things on musicbrainz it must have been automods that made it through initial adding to the community and should be changed.
  • Please change Neo Boys to Neo Boys.

    Proof.

    Thanks!

i don't know what's going on, but these songs went back to their incorrect state.

also, these two songs need to be properly capitalized:
    My Foolish Heart
    Today I Sing the Blues

    Está Loco >>> Está Loco
Frank Vander Linden >>> Frank Vander Linden (Vander is capitalized because that's the custom in Belgium; in the Netherlands it would be "vander Linden", but the dude is Belgian... anyway it is the "L" that needs capitalizing)
in my previous post you forgot: Bunch of Gurus >>> Bunch of Gurus

thx for the work you're doing ... i don't understand why last.fm doesn't recruit last.fm-users to fix some of these capitalisation-issues ... it would safe you moderators a lot of work and some users would consider it fun!
