Thu 19 Jul – Yo La Tengo, The Fiery Furnaces

Fiery Furnaces - This is one of those bands that I really feel like I should love but I just didn't feel it. They started out interesting enough and I loved the two drummer setup but in the end they just didn't do it for me. Most of the songs sounded exactly the same

Yo La Tengo - I have had these 'guys' on my want-to-see list for a long time (since 1993's Painful) and they didn't dissapoint. I was kind of worried that they wouldn't play a lot of older stuff because their sound has somewhat evolved (a la Sonic Youth) but they managed to include all of my favorite newer songs, many of my favorite older songs, and only a couple of the newer songs that I don't care for as much.

An excellent experience overall and it leaves me really excited to see another band on my want-to-see list, Built To Spill, in two days.
